Michael Price
All Michael's works are painted with natural colour from rocks and crystals. This creates work with “chromatic depth”, which is impossible with modern tube paint whether oil or acrylic. The content of the paintings was inspired by mythological and psychological archetypes which expose and encompass the innumerable facets of the human condition to his latest “Chroma-Scapes”.
Since 1990, Michael has researched natural mineral pigments in the Renaissance tradition. He has presented his research at various forums in the U.S., Germany, the Dunhuang Institute in western China and recently the National Museum of Korea in May 2024. The colours include lapis lazuli, azurite, malachite, cinnabar, realgar and natural earths. In 2017, Michael's two volume books “Renaissance Mysteries” were published.
